The first patient was direct transferred via helicopter from another WA hospital to the FSH Intensive Care Unit in April 2015.
While the helipad has been operational since February 2015, this is the first time that a patient was transferred directly from a regional hospital to FSH.
The patient was transferred from the South West Health Campus, highlighting the
extensive capability of the RAC Rescue Helicopter Retrieval Service in the South
West of Western Australia.
This is an example of the varied use of the helicopter retrieval service that is available to over 90% of Western Australians. The FSH helipad is strategically located above operating theatres, intensive care and the emergency department with special access via a priority lift to ensure patients receive treatment as quickly as possible

Recently the walls of the childrens ward at the Fiona Stanley Hospital has seen the artwork of award winning student artists from across the southern suburbs of Perth.
The artwork was entered into a competition at the end of last year, and winners were chosen by local primary school children at an event hosted at the hospital.
The winners art work has now been turned into wall paper and installed in the childrens ward to bring colour and happiness to the young patients at the Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Murdoch florist is proud to be able to deliver and supply many child-orientated flowers, hampers and balloon arrangements to the children staying at the Fiona Stanley Hospital on a weekly basis.
At Fiona Stanley Florist we love making kids smile! If you have a special little persons birthday coming up, throwing a birthday party for a friend or hosting a corporate event, why not send a balloon bouquet like these ones? Fiona Stanley Hospital Emergency Department is NOW OPEN! Fremantle Hospital Emergency Dept is Now Closed
Our emergency department is located at the eastern end of Robin Warren Drive in Murdoch, which is accessed off Murdoch Drive. It has separate entrances for adults and children, and drop off car bays at the entry.
The opening of ED is part of Phase 3 of our four-phased opening, which also includes the majority of all other clinical specialties, outpatient services and the State burns service. FSH is now almost fully operational, with the final 4th phase, heart and lung transplant services, due to commence next month.
FSH’s ED boasts 70 beds, including trauma and resuscitation, acute assessment, ambulatory care and short stay areas
The main entrance to our hospital is on Robin Warren Drive, which is accessible from Murdoch Drive. Please visit an information desk for directions on how to locate specific areas. The desks are found at entrances and key locations throughout the hospital. You can identify them by the green strip and the information icon.
The main hospital concourse runs through the building from west to east. Most public services and facilities you will need to access are available off this concourse (For example: café, outpatient clinics, pharmacy, ATMs).
You can access the wards via two sets of lifts found off the concourse. The lifts are coloured blue (for the western or ocean side) and orange (for the eastern or desert side).
The wards and floors use a number and letter sequence. The number indicates the level and the letter is uniform for levels 3 to 7. For example ward 4A would be found on level 4, northeast tower. Bed numbers are clockwise from the ward entry and the first number of the bed indicates the level number.
Interactive kiosks that provide public access to an electronic map system can be found near entrances and friendly volunteers will be available to help you find your way.
