The first patient was direct transferred via helicopter from another WA hospital to the FSH Intensive Care Unit in April 2015. The patient was transferred from the South West Health Campus, highlighting the extensive capability of the RAC Rescue Helicopter Retrieval Service in the South West of Western Australia. This is an example of the varied use of the helicopter retrieval service that is available to over 90% of Western Australians. Recently the walls of the childrens ward at the Fiona Stanley Hospital has seen the artwork of award winning student artists from across the southern suburbs of Perth. The artwork was entered into a competition at the end of last year, and winners were chosen by local primary school children at an event hosted at the hospital. The winners art work has now been turned into wall paper and installed in the childrens ward to bring colour and happiness to the young patients at the Fiona Stanley Hospital.
